Bernie Sez: War's Full of Propaganda

From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

American viewers will never get the full and true picture of a U.S. war with Iraq.

That at least is the assessment of former CNN anchor Bernard Shaw.

"Nobody saw the whole picture in '91, and nobody will see the whole picture if there is a Gulf war again," Shaw says. "People forget that everybody censors in a war. The U.S., the Iraqis, the British, the Israelis ..."

"You are only getting what the government wants you to get," Shaw says.
This is obvious, of course, but it's rare to see a media luminary admit as much. Still, it would be nice if Bernie were to take it a step further: censorship does not happen just because the state wants to keep the lid on things. There's another dynamic usually at work.
