Words vs. Numbers
Allan Sloan of the Washington Post writes that, judging from the way Bush handled himself during the State of the Union last week, "It sure sounds as if the president has things under control...but actions speak louder than words, so let's look beyond the president's upbeat rhetoric at some numbers the economy and financial markets have posted in his first two years." Sloan finds that the numbers don't match the rhetoric.
Analysts affiliated with the Institute for Public Accuracy critique Bush's claims in the State of the Union, too.
