A (devil's) deal?
In a sprawling essay for the New Yorker, Seymour Hersh tackles the mess that is the US-Pakistan relationship.
Hersh's main point is that Washington has looked the other way on Pakistan's development and exchange of nuclear technology in return for greater logistical support in the hunt for Bin Laden in the Hindu Kush. This "deal," as Hersh puts it, brings enormous potential pitfalls, most notably by increasing domestic pressure on an already shaky Pervez Musharraf.
