No dialogue on poverty or wages

Long obscured, the "Other America" flashed before the world's eyes when Katrina struck the Gulf Coast.

Looking back on the past few months, it's rather amazing how the press and political establishment have been able to skirt the poverty issue since the devastating hurricane. That's required a lot of skill on their part.

Along similar lines, the business community should be applauded for reaching a 40 year high on corporate profits.

That's quite an accomplishment, particularly while they've been able to keep wages stagnant (or on the decline). One can only stand back and marvel at how the press and political establishment let this issue skip by without garnering as much as a yawn, too.
