Official justification on thin ice

So if it cannot be established that IDF forces were attacked and "kidnapped" in Israel on July 12, pray tell, what's the rationale for destroying Lebanon?

It's already been established that Israel's war plan was carefully planned out, with US cooperation, going back over a year. No credible observer can claim that the last two weeks of bombing and military incursions were part of a visceral, "defensive" response. So would it shock you one bit to find out that the pretext for unleashing all of the violence is contrived and fraudulent?

Of course, it goes without saying that even if Israel could prove that its soldiers were within its own territory that wouldn't justify the collective punishment that has been unleashed on the neighboring country to the north. Still, the fact that details are unclear two weeks into the carnage raises a great many red flags.
